In last night’s Powerball drawing, three tickets matched four out of five white balls plus the Powerball. The normal payout for this combination is $10,000; however one ticket was Power Played and is worth $40,000 since the Power Play multiplier for the drawing was 4. This ticket was sold at On the Mark #2 on Highway 158 in Norlina. The other two tickets were not Power Played and are worth $10,000 each. These tickets were sold at Food Lion #455 on Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Matthews and Fuel Doc #15 on U.S. Highway 301 North in Lucama. A total of 32,968 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in the Wednesday, Aug. 6, Powerball drawing, ranging from $40,000 down to $3 for a total payout in prizes worth $351,259. No one matched all five white balls plus the Powerball to win the jackpot, so the jackpot for the Saturday, Aug. 9, drawing is an estimated $20 million. The NCEL has paid out more than $8.2 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Thursday, July 31. Also since Thursday, “Carolina Cash 5” players have won more than $283,000 and “Carolina Pick 3” players have won more than $1.8 million in prizes.
