Johnson says he will use the money for an already planned cruise vacation, as well as to pay bills. Johnson purchased his winning ticket at RJ’s Country Store on N.C. Highway 39 North in Townsville. In the Wednesday, Aug. 13, Powerball drawing, one ticket matched all five white balls and was Power Played. Since the Power Play multiplier was 4, the usual $200,000 payout was increased to $800,000! This ticket was sold at Kangaroo Express #3146 on North Main Street in Fuquay-Varina. The prize has yet to be claimed. Also in last night’s Powerball drawing, one ticket matched four out of five white balls plus the Powerball and is worth $10,000. This ticket was sold at Handy Mart #58 on U.S. 70 East in Goldsboro. A total of 32,707 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing, ranging from $800,000 down to $3 for a total payout in prizes worth $1,152,238. No one matched all five white balls plus the Powerball to win the jackpot, so the jackpot for the Saturday, Aug. 16, drawing is an estimated $35 million. The NCEL has paid out more than $4.9 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Monday, Aug. 11. Also since Monday, “Carolina Cash 5” players have won nearly $232,000 and “Carolina Pick 3” players have won more than $700,000 in prizes.
