NCEL - EDUCATION LOTTERY RETAILERS RECEIVE RECOGNITION!
ASHEVILLE REGION - Two Retailers in Maggie Valley & Clyde Show Over 113% Increase in Sales

The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) is recognizing two retailers in the Asheville Region for major increases in lottery sales. One showed an increase of more than 113%, while the other had increased sales of more than 152%. NCEL retailers that have increased their sales by the highest percentage in the region compared to the previous quarter earn the title of “Stellar Seller.”

The NCEL announces the following retail locations in the Asheville Region named “Stellar Sellers”:

Stellar Seller (highest sales increase)
1. Blue Ridge Quick Stop #1, 1786 Soco Road, Maggie Valley
2. Ferguson Supply, 11571 Betsy’s Gap Road, Clyde

Blue Ridge Quick Stop #1 increased its sales by 152.14%. Ferguson Supply increased its sales by 113.84% compared to the previous quarter.

Vivian Price of Blue Ridge Quick Stop #1 says the key to her store’s sales increase is keeping the instant ticket dispensers full. She adds that she makes sure to have current Point of Sale marketing materials for NCEL games in her store. This keeps her players informed and educated about new games and top prizes. Price’s store also sold a winning “$100 Million Cash Spectacular” ticket worth $50,000, and she says that helped boost sales.

Boots Williams with Ferguson Supply says his store’s sales increase is due to popular instant games like “$100 Million Cash Spectacular.” He says his store’s lottery sales “took off” once the $10 ticket with ten $1 million top prizes was launched. Williams’ players continued to enjoy the game as the months went by, helping him to become a Stellar Seller.

Stroud adds that the “$100 Million Cash Spectacular” instant ticket was a big part of their growth, along with moving the instant ticket dispensers from behind the counter to the front counter.

Stanly Food Mart is in a busy location with many regular lottery customers, which has helped their lottery sales. Staff makes sure to keep a lot of instant tickets on hand and displays them on the front counter so their customers can see which games are available to play.
