		RALEIGH - It was a Father’s Day to remember for Joseph Carroll and his loved ones. Playing numbers that have special family significance, the Arden resident won $200,000 in the June 20 Powerball drawing. It was not until late the following day however, on Father’s Day, that Carroll says he checked online to see the drawing results. Carroll’s wife told the NCEL that her husband was in a state of shock after their son-in-law confirmed that all five numbers matched. Carroll purchased his winning ticket, worth $136,005.40 after taxes, at The Pop Shoppe on Hickswood Road in High Point. The retiree says that in addition to paying off some of his kids’ college loans, he and his wife are thinking about taking a cruise to the Bahamas from Charleston, South Carolina. A total of 31,076 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in the Wednesday, July 1 Powerball drawing, ranging from $100 to $3 for a total payout in prizes worth $172,740. The jackpot for the Saturday, July 4 Powerball drawing is an estimated $25 million. The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) has paid out over $5.2 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Monday, June 29. Also since Monday, “Carolina Pick 3” players have won over $1.1 million. “Carolina Pick 4” players have won over $522,000 and 37 tickets were sold that won the top prize of $5,000. “Carolina Cash 5” players have won over $216,000.
