NCEL - WAKE COUNTY MAN WINS $200,000 POWERBALL PRIZE
-Charlotte Woman Wins $100,000 on "$200 Million Extravaganza"-
-"Carolina Cash 5" Top Prize Rolls to $351,000-
RALEIGH - Using his winnings from a previous Powerball ticket to purchase a ticket for the Oct. 21 Powerball drawing, Michael Radcliff of Fuquay-Varina became the state’s most recent $200,000 Powerball winner. Radcliff bought his winning ticket at Kangaroo Express #3039 on Highway 210 North in Spring Lake and claimed his prize last Thursday at the North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) headquarters in Raleigh.

Radcliff, who received $136,000.32 after taxes, says he didn’t even realize he had won such a large prize until the day after the drawing when he stopped at a gas station for a soda. He says he asked the cashier to check his ticket and thought the cashier was joking when she told him his ticket was worth $200,000. Radcliff says he isn’t sure yet what he will do with his winnings.

Peggy Salazar wants to go on vacation with some of her recent lottery winnings. The Charlotte woman won $100,000 playing “the “$200 Million Extravaganza” instant scratch-off game.

Salazar, who received $68,006.40 after taxes, purchased her winning ticket at the Gas N Go Food Mart on Carowinds Boulevard in Charlotte. She says the rest of her winnings will go in the bank.

“Carolina Cash 5” continues to roll. Tonight’s estimated top prize is $351,000! To win the top prize, a player must match all five numbers drawn.

In the Saturday, Oct. 24 Powerball drawing, two tickets sold in North Carolina matched four out of five white balls plus the Powerball and are worth $10,000 each. These tickets were sold at Kangaroo Express on West Harrison Street in Reidsville and Market Basket on Taylorsville Highway in Stony Point.

A total of 34,755 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in the Saturday, Oct. 24 Powerball drawing ranging from $10,000 to $3 for a total payout in prizes worth $213,098. No one matched all five white balls plus the Powerball to win the jackpot, so the jackpot for the Wednesday, Oct. 28 Powerball drawing is an estimated $41 million.

The NCEL has paid out more than $7 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Thursday, Oct. 23. Also since Thursday, “Carolina Pick 3” players have won more than $1.5 million. “Carolina Pick 4” players have won nearly $267,000 and 21 tickets won the top prize of $5,000. “Carolina Cash 5” players have won more than $157,000.
