Janet Taylor also became a $100,000 instant winner after buying two “The Price is Right” instant scratch-off tickets at the S&D Food Mart on Garrison Boulevard in Gastonia. Taylor, who lives in Gastonia, told NCEL officials that she felt “excited” after realizing she won and “didn’t get any sleep” that night. She added that she might use her winnings, a take-home total of $68,001, for a trip to Hawaii or Alaska. Powerball players need to check their tickets! One ticket sold in North Carolina is worth $200,000 after it matched all five white balls in the Wednesday, Feb. 17 drawing. It was sold at Kittrell Grocery on US 1 Bypass in Kittrell. The retailer is eligible for the $1,000 retailer incentive for selling the winning ticket, provided it meets NCEL standards. A total of 30,490 North Carolina Powerball players won prizes in the Wednesday, Feb. 17 drawing ranging from $3 to $200,000 for a total payout in prizes worth $437,326. Because no tickets matched all five white balls and the Powerball, the jackpot for the Saturday Feb. 20 drawing is an estimated $57 million. A Mega Millions ticket sold at Sheetz on West Wendover Avenue in Greensboro matched four white balls and the Mega Ball in the Tuesday, Feb. 16 drawing. The ticket is worth $30,000 because it was Megaplied and the Megaplier was three. A total of 13,859 North Carolina Mega Millions players won prizes in the Tuesday, Feb. 16 drawing ranging from $2 to $30,000 for a total payout in prizes worth $120,953. Because no tickets matched all five white balls and the Mega Ball, the jackpot for the Friday Feb. 19 drawing is an estimated $68 million. The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) has paid out over $5.4 million total in instant scratch-off ticket prizes since Monday, Feb. 15. Also since Monday, “Carolina Pick 3” players have won over $915,000, “Carolina Pick 4” players have won more than $142,000 and 3 tickets won the top prize of $5,000. “Carolina Cash 5” players have won over $170,000.
