Guilford County coworkers win $50,000 Powerball prize

They’ve worked together for over a decade, they’ve played the Powerball together for just as long, and now one group of Guilford County coworkers is celebrating a $50,000 win together.

The five women call themselves the “Lottery Girls” and have been playing Powerball since 2007.

Michelle Steinert of Summerfield bought the Quick Pick ticket for the July 6, drawing at the Harris Teeter on Battleground Avenue in Greensboro. When she found out the ticket matched four white balls and the Powerball to win $50,000, she immediately took a picture and texted it to the others.

On Wednesday, Steinert, Kristi McDaniel, Deborah Landreth, Pamela Edmond, and Judith Gonshor came to the lottery claim center in Greensboro, full of excitement, to claim their prize.

They plan to use some of the money to take a vacation.

Even though they had a big win, this isn’t the end of the Lottery Girls. They say they’re going to keep playing and “plan to be back real soon,” when they win their next prize.

You can't assume that they would have won if they had chosen the multiplier. I used to assume that. Several years ago a neighbor of mine matched the Pick 4 twice, just not right together. How much did he win? A hundred bucks each time. Why not $2600? He played 50 cent ANY quick picks. I even told him, if he'd played 50/50 he would've won $2600! He said he probably wouldn't have because if he had done that it might have generated a different set of numbers. Is this true @NC LOTTERY? Does HOW we play affect the quick picks or not?NC Lottery

S-O-O-O SAD that the GIRLS didn't buy a $3.00 ticket,they would have won $100,000. !!! But the Lottery does NOTHING as far as their commercials to educate the players !!! If they did I feel sure more people would spend the extra dollar on Mega & Powerball for the Multiplier !!! Have no idea how many people I have taken the time to inform of the difference...Spread the word...the Brochures @ the store explains,but few read them ! Good Luck to ALL !
