Rockingham County man wins $1 million lottery prize

Ray Sharpe of Eden became the second North Carolinian to win a $1 million prize in the new $300,000,000 Supreme Riches game.

Sharpe claimed his prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. He purchased the lucky $30 ticket at the Hilltop Grill & Grocery on N.C. 87 in Eden. 

He had a choice of taking the $1 million as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. He chose the lump sum and after tax withholdings took home $424,509.

The $300,000,000 Supreme Riches game started in April with four top prize of $10 million. Three top prizes of $10 million remain to be claimed and four of the six $1 million prizes are still unclaimed. Four $1 million prizes can also be won in second-chance drawings. The first of four second-chance drawing is scheduled for Aug. 7. Players have until July 31 to enter their Supreme Riches tickets into the drawing.

I have location sharing enabled in my browser and every other browser I have downloaded. My wireless card is enabled, although I'm not sure why that should prevent you from purchasing online. Before the so called update, everything was working fine. I'm seeing other users having the same difficulty, so I know this is not an isolated problem. It has to be on NCEL end. With all the technology available I would have assumed it would be fixed by now. It is no longer convenient to purchase online and doesn't look like there will be a resolution anytime soon.

Congratulations! I just purchased one and it was a dud! Kind of nuts that you win $1 Million and taxes get more than you do at a whopping 57.55% I'm about to just stop wasting my money and hopes bc I've been playing for years and used to win a little out in Charlotte but here in Raleigh area...rarely anything but the occasional $1 for 2 #'s :P
