Rowan County housemates to get new home with $150,000 lottery prize

Joe Griffith and Walter Fyler of Salisbury said they plan to get a new home after they won a $150,000 lottery prize.

The friends and housemate’s, good luck started Saturday when they stopped at the Murphy Express on Freeland Drive in Salisbury and bought six Happy Holidays scratch-off tickets. They waited until later that afternoon to scratch them.

“I was taking a nap when Joe scratched them,” Fyler said. “I woke up to a knock on my door and Joe asking, ‘Are my eyes deceiving me?’ I thought maybe he won a few hundred dollars, but when I saw the three zeros, I was like, ‘Wow! It actually happened.’ I jumped and clicked my heels. It was exciting. ”

Griffith and Fyler claimed the prize Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal tax withholdings, they split $106,126.

The $5 scratch-off ticket launched in November with three top prizes of $150,000. One top prize remains. This month, players can also enter their holiday scratch-off tickets into a second-chance drawing for a chance to win $50,000. The deadline to enter the Feb. 5 drawing is Friday, Jan. 31.

Any idea when the web site link to manually enter tickets for LR will be working? I called last week and was told they were working on it. Likewise, you can't click on drop down menu to see draws, tickets entered etc. NC Lottery
Everything looks to be working on our end, Donna. Please try clearing your browser cache and then restarting. Once you log back in, wait until the spinning circle disappears from your shopping cart in the upper right. Then click on the page you are wanting to visit. Hope this helps!

Has the reindeer riches winners been notified yet?NC Lottery
They have! Typically our team notifies the winners for our Lucke-Rewards drawings within 48 hours of the draw day. That means they should have all bee notified by the end of the day yesterday. As the winners respond to us and complete the claim process, we will update the website with their info. Winners have up to 30 days to respond and claim. Thanks!
