Raleigh man wins first $100,000 prize in new game

Armie Riddick of Raleigh tried his luck on a $20 scratch-off ticket and won the first $100,000 prize in a new lottery game.

Riddick bought his lucky 100X The Cash ticket from Hwy 64 Mart on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh. He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters Monday and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $71,256.

The 100X The Cash game debuted in December with five $2 million prizes and 10 $100,000 prizes. Four $2 million top prizes and nine $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.

I have a question for NC lottery. The jackpot prizes on all scratch offs, are you able to opt for the lump sum or is it annuity only?NC Lottery
Hey there, Annesha! That's a great question! In general, top prizes of $1 million or more for scratch-offs give players the option of the lump sum of $600,000 or annuity of $1 million paid over many years. For scratch-off prizes that are less than $1 million, there is no annuity and the prizes are paid out as a lump sum. Hope this helps explain things!
