Saturday’s Powerball drawing produced a $2 million prize on a ticket bought in Gastonia.
The lucky winner bought a $3 Power Play ticket from the Food Lion on South New Hope Road in Gastonia. The ticket matched the numbers on all five white balls to win $2 million. The odds of matching numbers on all five white balls are 1 in 11.6 million.
The $2 million prize was one of the two biggest prizes won nationally in Saturday’s drawing. The other $2 million win occurred in Pennsylvania.
North Carolina saw two other big wins on Saturday:
- A $2 ticket purchased in Fayetteville won $50,000. The ticket, bought at the Food Lion on Andrews Road, matched the numbers on four white balls and the red Powerball.
- A $3 Powerball Double Play ticket purchased in Charlotte matched all five white balls to win $500,000. The ticket came from Charlotte’s Landing on Express Drive.
The winners have 180 days from the drawing to claim the prize.
Monday’s Powerball drawing offers a $1.1 billion jackpot, or $503.4 million in cash. The jackpot ranks as the sixth largest in Powerball history. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
Powerball is one of six lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying tickets at a retail location or with Online Play through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.
