RALEIGH – Todd Bodily, a resident of Sanford in Lee County, plans to use the $134,296 prize he won playing Carolina Cash 5 to purchase a new truck and pay bills. Bodily matched all five numbers in the Dec. 13 drawing to win the jackpot.

“Just last week my wife told me that if I ever won the lottery, I could buy a new truck,” Bodily said. “There you go.”

After state and federal taxes were withheld, Bodily received a check for $91,321. He purchased his winning ticket at the Fastee Mart on Lee Avenue in Sanford.

“I walked into the store on Wednesday morning,” Bodily said. “The clerk remembered I had bought a ticket the night before and told me I should check it because someone won the jackpot. I went home and checked online. It’s a good feeling.”

Since the lottery began through June 30 of this year, Lee County education programs received more than $13.9 million in lottery funds. By law, those funds pay for teachers’ salaries, school construction, need-based college scholarships and at-risk prekindergarten programs.
