RALEIGH – Marvin Pike, a resident of Rocky Mount, is the latest big winner in the lottery’s 10X the Money game. Pike won $100,000 on a ticket he purchased at the Stop N Shop on East Nash Street in Spring Hope. After taxes, he collected a check for $68,001. As of Tuesday morning, one $100,000 top prize remains to be claimed in the game.

Since the lottery began through June 30 of this year, Nash County education programs received more than $21.3 million in lottery funds. By law, those funds pay for teachers’ salaries, school construction, need-based college scholarships and at-risk prekindergarten programs. Players in Nash County have won more than $81.2 million in prizes since the lottery’s inception.

To date, the N.C. Education Lottery has raised more than $2.1 billion for these initiatives statewide.
