RALEIGH – A Fairmont woman is the fourth player to win $1 million on a scratch-off ticket for the $4,000,000 Million Cash Blowout game. Wanda Evans purchased her winning ticket at Mr. G’s Convenience Mart on Iona Street in Fairmont.

Top prize winners in the Cash Blowout game have the option of claiming their prize an annuity paid out over 20 years, or as a one-time lump sum payment. Evans chose the $600,000 lump sum prize, which is subject to state and federal taxes. After required withholdings, she received a check for $408,006.

Cash Blowout tickets went on sale Jan. 10 with three top prizes of $4 million and seven $1 million prizes. One top prize of $4 million has yet to be claimed.

Ticket sales have enabled the lottery to raise more than $2.58 billion for education initiatives statewide. Since the lottery began through June 30, 2012, Robeson County education programs received more than $46.9 million in lottery funds. By law, those funds pay for teachers’ salaries in grades K-3, school construction, prekindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, and need-based college scholarships and financial aid.
