RALEIGH – The third winner who shared a Dec. 23 Carolina Cash 5 jackpot is Leslie Turner of Greensboro.

Turner claimed her share of the jackpot, $181,279, on Wednesday. She purchased her lucky ticket, a Quick Pick, at the MS Food Mart on West Friendly Avenue in Greensboro. After taxes were withheld, she received $123,271.

Three tickets matched all five numbers in the drawing and shared the $543,837 jackpot. The other winners were Curtis G. Allred of Randleman and a group of five friends who bought their winning ticket in Granite Falls in Caldwell County.

Through June 30 of last year, Guilford County players won more than $187 million in lottery prizes and local retailers earned more than $24 million in commissions on ticket sales. During the same time frame, Guilford County education programs received more than $102 million in lottery funds. By law, those funds pay for teachers’ salaries, school construction, need-based college scholarships and prekindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds.

To date, the N.C. Education Lottery has raised more than $2.2 billion for these initiatives statewide.
