RALEIGH – Carlton Brock of Monroe and John Flynn of Winston-Salem are the winners of $20,000 racing-themed trips in the lottery’s Ultimate Fan game, officially-licensed by NASCAR®. Their tickets were randomly selected in the game’s final second-chance drawing held May 30. Drawing winners choose from exclusive trip options to destinations hosting NASCAR® events.

“That is absolutely amazing,” Brock said when he learned of his good luck.

Born and raised in the Tar Heel state, Brock works as a warehouse manager in the poultry equipment supply industry. He grew up a Dale Earnhardt fan, going to races throughout the Carolinas. Today he pulls for Earnhardt’s son.

“Since I was 12 and went to my first race with my uncle in Rockingham - The Rock,” Brock said. “Now I am a member of the Junior Nation,” he added, referring to his loyal support of Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

Brock, who celebrated his birthday on May 25, said he and his wife may take the $20,000 trip to the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.

“This is a good birthday present,” he said. “It feels good.”

Flynn is also a North Carolina native. These days he delivers flowers but was an electrician and plumber for many years. As a teenager, Flynn became a racing fan cheering for Richard Petty, having seen the action up close in Richmond and Charlotte. Now that he’s an Ultimate Fan drawing winner, Flynn has a western destination in mind for his $20,000 racing vacation.

“I’ve always wanted to go to Vegas,” he said. “I’ve been to Atlantic City but never Vegas.”

Flynn said a friend of 20 years will join him in Las Vegas where they will get the VIP experience at the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards Ceremony™.

“It feels great. I’m just glad to win,” Flynn said. “I’ve seen pictures of winners before and I said to myself ‘I wonder if it’s going to be me one of these days’ and I finally won.”

Brock and Flynn join four other winners of Ultimate Fan second chance drawings held this spring. They are Lawrence Gardner of Indian Trail, Jim Guthrie of Oak Ridge, Johnny Oxendine of Raeford, and Edward Sikorski of Mills River. Winning earned each his choice of three unique $20,000 trip package options, all of which include an “ultimate” driving school experience:

• The first option begins with a five day, four night trip to the winner’s choice of a NASCAR® sanctioned race. Once there, the winner will get VIP track access, and see all the action from Club level seating and stay in a luxury hotel suite.

• The second option will also revolve around a trip to the winner’s choice of a NASCAR® sanctioned race. At the raceway, the winner will enjoy VIP track access and infield luxury motor coach accommodations for four days and three nights.

• The third option will feature a six day, five night trip to Las Vegas for a once-in-a-lifetime VIP experience at the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards Ceremony™.

The Ultimate Fan game launched Jan. 31 with five top prizes of $100,000 players could win instantly. Two remain unclaimed.
