RALEIGH – Anhthu Thi Ngo, a resident of Carrboro in Orange County, says she has no immediate plans for the $100,000 prize she won playing the Super Lucky 7’s scratch-off game on Tuesday.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes,” Ngo said. “My whole body froze and I couldn’t talk. I’m very happy and I’m very appreciative of the lottery for giving me the chance to win.”

Ngo received a check for $68,001 after state and federal taxes were withheld. The winning ticket was purchased at the Key Food Mart on West Rosemary Street in Chapel Hill.

As of Thursday afternoon, two more top prizes remain to be claimed in the Super Lucky 7’s game.

Since the lottery began through June 30, 2011, Orange County education programs received more than $21.9 million in lottery funds. By law, those funds pay for teachers’ salaries in grades K-3, school construction, need-based college scholarships and prekindergarten programs.

To date, the N.C. Education Lottery has raised more than $2.45 billion for these initiatives statewide.
