RALEIGH – Shawn White of Kannapolis is the fourth N.C. Education Lottery player to win $100,000 playing the Ultimate Fan game, officially-licensed by NASCAR®. He purchased his winning ticket, worth $68,001 after taxes, at the 7-Eleven on West C Street in Kannapolis.

White joins winners from Clinton, Jacksonville, and Tobaccoville who have claimed $100,000 prizes playing the game. Ultimate Fan launched Jan. 31 with five such top prizes, one of which remains unclaimed.

Ultimate Fan players could win instantly or enter non-winning tickets into one of three second chance-drawings held this spring. Last month, a player from Monroe was announced as the winner of a $20,000 racing-themed trip in the final drawing.

Through June 30, 2011, Cabarrus County education programs received more than $39.6 million in lottery funds. By law, lottery funds pay for teachers’ salaries in grades K-3, school construction, need-based college scholarships and prekindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds.

To date, the N.C. Education Lottery has raised more than $2.45 billion for these initiatives statewide.
