RALEIGH – Willie and Candy Williams, a father and daughter from Goldsboro, won $548,585 playing Carolina Cash 5. The lucky ticket, which matched all five numbers in the June 6 drawing, was purchased at the Kangaroo Express on Buck Swamp Road in Goldsboro. The after-tax value of the prize is $373,038.

Carolina Cash 5 is a draw game with a rolling jackpot that starts at $50,000. When no ticket matches all five numbers in a drawing, the jackpot rolls to a larger amount. Ahead of the June 6 drawing, the jackpot rolled eight times to reach the $548,585 amount.

Since the lottery began through June 30, 2011, Wayne County education programs received more than $29.6 million in lottery funds. By law, those funds pay for teachers' salaries in grades K-3, school construction, prekindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, and need-based college scholarships and financial aid.

To date, the N.C. Education Lottery has raised more than $2.45 billion for these initiatives statewide.
