RALEIGH – Sandra Smith of Linden is the most recent Carolina Cash 5 jackpot winner. Her lucky ticket was the only one to match all five numbers in Thursday night’s drawing, winning her the $347,613 jackpot.

Smith purchased the ticket, worth $236,378 after required state and federal withholdings, at David’s Three D Grocery on Ramsey Street in Linden.

Ticket sales for games such as Carolina Cash 5 make it possible for the lottery to raise money for education programs in all 100 counties. Similar to the multistate jackpot games Powerball and Mega Millions, Carolina Cash 5 is a number-matching game with drawings held at 11:22 p.m. each night. The jackpot starts at $50,000 and grows with each drawing until one or more tickets match all five numbers.

The Cash 5 Bonus Bucks promotion offers players extra chances to win as much as $50,000 at no extra cost. The next Bonus Bucks drawing is scheduled for Dec. 4, with an entry deadline of Nov. 20. Promotion information can be found at any lottery retailer.
