RALEIGH – Cary resident Tri Tin Le, a salesman in the biotechnology field, plans to use the $383,591 prize he won playing Carolina Cash 5 to set aside for his children’s future. Le matched all five numbers in the Dec. 9 drawing to win the jackpot.

Le learned of his big win while watching the live Carolina Cash 5 drawing at home on Monday night.

“I was just shocked,” Le said, who beat odds of 1 in 575,757 to win the jackpot. “I kept checking the numbers again and again. I couldn’t sleep at all that night.”

Le bought his lucky ticket at the Food Lion on South Main Street in Rolesville. After taxes were withheld, he received a check for $260,842.

As of September 2013, the lottery has raised more than $3 billion to support education programs. Lottery dollars support teachers’ salaries in grades K-3, school construction and repair projects, prekindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, need-based college scholarships and financial aid and digital learning initiatives.
