RALEIGH – Evangeline Moore of Winterville is the final player to win the top prize in the $100,000 Crossword game. She claimed her prize on Monday afternoon, two days before Christmas.

Moore received a check for $68,001 after state and federal taxes were withheld. She purchased the lucky ticket at the Kangaroo Express on Mill Street in Winterville.

As of September 2013, the lottery has raised more than $3 billion to support education programs. Lottery dollars support teachers’ salaries in grades K-3, school construction and repair projects, prekindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, need-based college scholarships and financial aid and digital learning initiatives.
