RALEIGH – Halima Forth of Charlotte is the latest player to win $150,000 playing the 10X the Payout game.

She learned of her big win while walking home from the Sam’s Mart on Independence Boulevard in Charlotte, where she purchased the lucky $10 ticket.

“This feels fantastic,” Forth said as she collected her winnings. After taxes were withheld, she received a check for $102,001. As of Friday morning, two top prizes of $150,000 and many other prizes remain unclaimed in the game.

Ticket sales for games such as instant scratch-offs have enabled the lottery to raise more than $2.6 billion for education initiatives statewide. Since the lottery began through June 30, 2012, Mecklenburg County education programs received more than $210.9 million in lottery funds. By law, those funds pay for teachers’ salaries in grades K-3, school construction, prekindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, and need-based college scholarships and financial aid.
