RALEIGH –As jackpots continued to roll, lottery players across the state had big wins over the weekend playing Powerball and Mega Millions. Powerball tickets worth $1 million were sold in Asheville and Winston-Salem, and a $250,000 Mega Millions ticket was sold in Raleigh.

Two tickets from Saturday’s Powerball drawing matched all five white balls but not the red Powerball to win $1 million prizes. The tickets were sold at the Sheetz on North N.C. 150 in Winston-Salem and at Ingles Market on New Leicester Highway in Asheville.

The drawing also created a pair of $10,000-winning tickets that matched four white balls and the red Powerball. The tickets were sold at Sam’s Mart on Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte and at Lowe’s Foods on Carolina Beach Road in Wilmington.

Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot is the game’s third largest in history. Players can win $350 million if taken as an annuity or $222.8 million if taken as a lump sum, but the jackpot could grow higher depending on sales.

The largest Powerball jackpot of all time occurred last November, when a $587 million prize was split by a couple from Missouri and a man in Arizona.

One ticket from Friday’s Mega Millions drawing matched all five white balls but not the yellow Mega Ball and is worth $250,000. The ticket was sold at the Street Corner in Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh. Winners have 180 days from the draw date to claim their prize.

Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot is the largest of 2013, an estimated $170 million if taken as an annuity or $126.7 million if taken as a lump sum.
