RALEIGH – Katherine Oliver of Charlotte plans to purchase a new boat after scratching off the $100,000 top prize on her Diamond 7’s ticket. Oliver is the fourth player to claim the game’s top prize. She scratched off her big win last week while sitting on her deck.

“I scratched it off and I went weak in the knees,” Oliver said as she collected her winnings. “I started shaking and felt like I was going to pass out. That lasted for about four or five hours.”

Oliver also plans to use her winnings, worth $68,001 after state and federal taxes were withheld, to save for the future. She purchased the lucky ticket at the 7-Eleven on Mt. Holly Huntersville Road in Charlotte.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the Diamond 7’s game has two $100,000 prizes remaining to be claimed.

Along with draw games, sales of instant tickets make it possible for the N.C. Education Lottery to raise money for education programs in all 100 counties.
