RALEIGH – Ethel Harris of Winterville is the most recent winner of $100,000 in the $1,000,000 Jackpot instant scratch-off game. She purchased the lucky $10 ticket at Mills Market on Mills Road in Greenville.

“I was very excited,” Harris recalled as she collected her winnings at lottery headquarters on Monday. After required state and federal withholdings, she received a check for $69,203.

As of Monday afternoon, five more $1 million top prizes, three $100,000 prizes – and many other prizes – remain to be claimed in the $1,000,000 Jackpot game.

Ticket sales have made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $3.4 billion for the state. North Carolina Education Lottery net proceeds will be used this year to help pay salaries of teachers and teacher assistants, for pre-kindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, school construction and repair, and need-based college scholarships and financial aid.
