The lucky winner who won $1 million in the Education Lottery’s exclusive one-time drawing Friday night to kick off the new MONOPOLY MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB™ lottery game bought the winning ticket in Wallace in Duplin County.

The retailer selling the winning ticket was the Wilco located on N.C. 41 South. The winning number in the drawing was: NC-2191-0006-7887

North Carolinians who bought a ticket for the first drawing should check their ticket and match the winning number to the unique MILLIONAIRES’ CLUB Draw Number. The ticket with the matching number is worth $1 million. The winner has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize at NCEL headquarters in Raleigh.

The Education Lottery held the one-time, exclusive drawing to guarantee that someone who bought a ticket in North Carolina would win $1 million in the first drawing. The Education Lottery was the only one of the 23 lotteries offering the new game to hold the special drawing. The $1 million prize was in addition to any other prizes won.

The lottery game debuted Sunday, Oct. 19 and it is expected to award more simultaneous million-dollar prizes than any game in lottery history. Each ticket offers three ways to become a millionaire with a chance to win:

• $15 million to $25 million in the weekly lottery drawing, conducted every Friday night. The Top Prize was not won Saturday and will climb to $18 million on Friday, Oct. 31 and have a cash value of $11 million.
• $1 million Club prizes in a separate drawing triggered when the game’s Top Prize is won. Twelve $1 million prizes will be awarded Friday, Oct. 31, if the Top Prize is won.
• Up to $1 million on a nationally televised game show hosted by Billy Gardell, a star of “Mike & Molly,” that debuts in February 2015. Enter the Lucke-Rewards Entry Code number on the ticket to get entries into a Dec. 2 drawing for a trip to Las Vegas and the chance to be a contestant on the TV game show.

Ticket sales have made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $3.4 billion for the state. North Carolina Education Lottery net proceeds will be used this year to help pay salaries of teachers and teacher assistants, for pre-kindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, school construction and repair, and need-based college scholarships and financial aid.
