RALEIGH – Carlos Sanabria, owner of C&S Automotive Repair in Charlotte, plans to use the $200,000 prize he won playing the $200,000 Grant game to help his family.

“This feels good,” Sanabria said. “I am very happy. This is going to help me save for whatever comes up down the road.”

After state and federal taxes were withheld, Sanabria received a check worth $138,401. He purchased the lucky $5 ticket at the Express Mart on Nations Ford Road in Charlotte.

As of Monday afternoon, one more $200,000 prize remains to be claimed in the game.

Ticket sales have made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $3.4 billion for the state. North Carolina Education Lottery net proceeds will be used this year to help pay salaries of teachers and teacher assistants, for pre-kindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, school construction and repair, and need-based college scholarships and financial aid.
