RALEIGH – Benjamin Rochelle of Jacksonville matched all five numbers on his Quick Pick ticket in Tuesday’s Carolina Cash 5 drawing, winning the $100,342 jackpot. He purchased the lucky ticket at the Whizz Mart on Richlands Highway in Jacksonville.

“This is very exciting,” Rochelle said as he collected his winnings on Thursday afternoon. “This takes some weight off of my shoulders.”

After state and federal taxes were withheld, Rochelle received a check for $69,436.

Ticket sales have made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $3.3 billion for the state. Net proceeds are used for prekindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, teachers’ salaries in grades K-3, school construction, digital learning initiatives, need-based college scholarships and financial aid.
