RALEIGH – Some players enjoy playing Powerball, Mega Millions or Cash 5, picking their numbers and waiting for a drawing to see if they win the jackpot. For those players who would like an instant chance at a jackpot comes a new suite of jackpot-themed scratch-off games.

The four-game suite, which will begin to show up in stores on Tuesday, offers North Carolinians thousands of chances to win. Prizes in the four games total more than $87 million, including:

• Six chances to win a $1 million jackpot in a $10 game.
• Six chances to win a $200,000 jackpot in a $5 game.
• Six chances to win a $50,000 jackpot in a $2 game.
• Ten chances to win a $10,000 jackpot in a $1 game.

“With these new games, you don’t have to wait on a drawing to see if you’ve won a jackpot,” said Alice Garland, the lottery’s executive director. “It can happen in an instant. We hope North Carolinians enjoy this exciting new family of instant scratch-off games.”

New scratch-off games begin on the first Tuesday of every month. Ticket sales for instant games have helped the lottery to raise more than $3.4 billion for the state. For details on how lottery funds make a difference, click on the “Where the Money Goes” tab on the lottery’s website.
