RALEIGH – Jack Grossman of Mooresville has played the same five numbers in Cash 5 for years and on Tuesday night, they won him a $162,770 prize.

Grossman matched the winning numbers on two separate tickets he purchased at different times leading up to the drawing. One ticket was purchased at the BP Rocky River Road on Shearers Road in Mooresville and the other at the Coddle Creek Grocery on Mooresville Road in Davidson.

After state and federal taxes were withheld, Grossman received a check for $112,719.

Carolina Cash 5 drawings are held nightly at 11:22 p.m. Tickets cost $1 each and jackpots start at $50,000. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 575,757.

Ticket sales made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion for the state last year.
