Robert Loflin of Lexington became the fourth person to win $1 million or more playing the new Ultimate Millions game.

Loflin, a retiree, bought the lucky $30 ticket at 2 Exprezit on U.S. 64 East in Lexington and claimed his win on Monday. The $1 million prize can be claimed as an annuity of $50,000 a year for 20 years or as a lump sum of $600,000. Loflin chose the lump sum option. After the required federal and state taxes were withheld, he received $415,509.

When the game began in September, it featured four top prizes of $10 million – the largest prize in an instant game in North Carolina history – and 18 $1 million prizes. It will also have three second-chance drawings for a $1 million prize. So far, one person has won $10 million in the game and two others have won $1 million.

Ticket sales made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars for the state last year. For details on how $51.5 million in lottery funds have made a difference in Davidson County, click on the “Where the Money Goes” tab on the lottery’s website.
