RALEIGH – John Wright and his stepfather, Moses Faison Jr., made a pact on Friday. The Wilson residents agreed to play the Casino Riches scratch-off game together and – if they won – to split the prize.

Wright scratched off the top prize of $150,000, winning them $75,000 apiece.

“I couldn’t breathe, my face turned red,” Wright recalled.

He bought the winning ticket where he worked at the Food Lion on Ward Boulevard in Wilson.

The winners said a portion of their after-tax shares of $51,938 each would be used to travel. Wright said he was taking his family to Florida while Faison planned to take a trip to Las Vegas.

Ticket sales made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars for the state last year. For details on how $26.6 million in lottery funds have made a difference in Wilson County, click on the “Where the Money Goes” tab on the lottery’s website.
