Ramin Karimpour of Raleigh is the most recent winner of $1 million in the $1,000 Mayhem instant scratch-off game. He purchased a lucky $10 ticket for the game at the Quality Mart on South Miami Boulevard in Durham.

A $1 million prize can be claimed as an annuity of $50,000 a year for 20 years or as a lump sum of $600,000. Karimpour chose the cash option, worth $415,503 after required state and federal withholdings.

With his claim, one top prize of $1 million remains to be claimed in the $1,000 Mayhem game.

Ticket sales made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars for the state last year. For details on how over $331 million in lottery funds have made a difference in Wake County, click on the “Where the Money Goes” section of the lottery’s website.
