RALEIGH – Bruce Wolf makes sure he has a ticket for every nightly Cash 5 drawing. The Troutman man said that something told him to buy an extra ticket for Sunday’s drawing – and it won him the $182,393 jackpot.

“It was a stroke of luck,” Wolf said. “I was only going to get one.”

After having breakfast early Monday morning, Wolf checked the lottery’s website to see if he had won anything the night before.

“When I saw the numbers I said, ‘I think I’ve got those numbers,’” he recalled. “And sure enough – bam! – there they were.”

Wolf, retired after 30 years as information services director for a computer company, said he’d use some of his $126,307 in after-tax winnings to help others.

Wolf purchased his winning ticket at the Perth Mini Mart on Perth Road in Troutman.

Ticket sales made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion for the state last year.
