RALEIGH – Carlean Wallace of Maxton says she will use the $200,000 she won playing the $200,000 Jackpot to do some landscaping in her yard and purchase a new truck.

“I don’t know what I’m going to get yet, but I’m sure it’s going to be a Ford,” Wallace said.

Wallace purchased the lucky $5 ticket at the Sun-Do Kwik Shop on East 4th Avenue in Red Springs on Saturday afternoon.

“I scratched off the ticket in the car and I had to look twice just to make sure it was real,” Wallace said. “I play for the fun of it. It sure feels nice to win.”

After state and federal taxes were withheld, Wallace received a check for $138,501. As of Tuesday afternoon, two more top prizes remain to be claimed in the game.

Ticket sales have made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $3.8 billion for the state. Net proceeds will be used this year to help pay salaries of teachers and teacher assistants, for pre-kindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, for school construction and repair, and need-based college scholarships and financial aid.
