RALEIGH – Gary Winbush of Fayetteville plans to make some investments after becoming the third player to claim the $200,000 top prize in the $ instant scratch-off game.

Winbush purchased the lucky $5 ticket at the Alco on Cliffdale Road in Fayetteville. After state and federal taxes were withheld, he received a check for $138,501.

The $ game went on sale on Oct. 7, 2014. As of Monday afternoon, one top prize remains to be claimed in the game.

Ticket sales have made it possible for the lottery to raise more than $3.8 billion for the state. Net proceeds will be used this year to help pay salaries of teachers and teacher assistants, for pre-kindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, for school construction and repair, and need-based college scholarships and financial aid.
