RALEIGH – A new $5 lottery game showing up in stores this week offers North Carolinians the chance to win a $200,000 prize.

King’s Ransom begins with more than $16.5 million in prizes and four $200,000 top prizes. The game features more than 81,000 prizes from $50 to $500. Players who reveal a “moneybag” symbol win all 12 prizes shown.

New scratch-off games are released on the “First Tuesday” of every month. Two other new games go on sale this week:

• 5X Crossword ($3) is a crossword-style game that begins with four $50,000 top prizes and more than $7 million in total prizes. Players have the chance to multiply their prize by up to five times.

• Double Match ($2) offers players two ways to win up to $30,000. Players can either match one of their numbers to a “winning number” or reveal and match three like prize amounts to win that prize. The game begins with six $30,000 top prizes and more than 63,000 prizes between $20 and $100.

Ticket sales for instant games have helped the lottery raise more than $3.8 billion for the state. For details on how lottery funds make a difference, click on the “Where the Money Goes” tab on the lottery’s website.
