RALEIGH – Three North Carolina Mega Millions tickets won big prizes in Tuesday’s drawing, including one sold in Pender County that is worth $1 million.

That lucky $1 million ticket was sold at the Food Lion on U.S. 117 North Bypass in Burgaw. It matched all five white balls drawn, beating odds of 1 in 18.5 million.

The winning numbers were 2-9-11-22-23 for the white balls and 12 for the gold Mega Ball.

Two tickets matched four white balls and the Mega Ball to win $5,000 each. Those tickets were purchased at the Star Mart on Sledge Road in Louisburg in Franklin County and at Taylor’s Store on N.C. 45 North in Merry Hill in Bertie County.

The $1 million prize was the largest won in North Carolina. A ticket sold in Illinois matched all six numbers to win the $260 million jackpot annuity.

In Wednesday’s Powerball drawing, North Carolina players have the chance to win a $188 million jackpot annuity, worth $119.4 million cash.

Six North Carolina players have won multimillion-dollar jackpots playing Mega Millions and Powerball, ranging from $12 million to $188 million.

Ticket sales made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion for the state last year. For details on how lottery funds have made a difference in each of North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Where the Money Goes” tab on the lottery’s website.
