Raleigh – Stephanie Kinlaw, a graphic designer from Fayetteville, plans to use the $200,000 prize she won in the lottery’s Week for Life Second-Chance drawing to buy a car and take the honeymoon she and her husband never had.

“I might need someone to pinch me,” Kinlaw said when she received the call notifying her of the big win. “My husband and I are going to Las Vegas for a late honeymoon. We’re going to get new rings, as well. I can’t tell you how much this means to me. I’m amazed right now.”

After state and federal taxes were withheld, Kinlaw received a check worth $138,500.

The Week for Life Second-Chance drawing let players use their Week for Life instant scratch-off tickets to enter to win one of 15 prizes of $1,000, one of three $10,000 prizes and one $200,000 prize. Kinlaw’s winning entry was randomly selected from a total of more than 3.7 million made in the drawing, held on July 8.

“I enjoy playing the lottery’s second-chance games on the Lucke-Zone website,” Kinlaw added. “It’s nice to have another chance to win. I still can’t believe it. The lottery has made my day.”

Ticket sales made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars for the state this year. North Carolina Education Lottery net proceeds were used to help pay salaries of teachers and teacher assistants, for pre-kindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, school construction and repair, and need-based college scholarships and financial aid.
