RALEIGH – Greensboro resident Derek Price has claimed his half of a $233,330 Carolina Cash 5 jackpot. He had one of two tickets to match all five numbers in the Sept. 5 drawing, winning $116,665.

Price purchased his lucky ticket, worth $80,790 after required state and federal withholdings, at the Food Lion on Coliseum Boulevard in Greensboro.

The other half of the jackpot was also won by a Greensboro player. Charles McCall bought his winning ticket at the SN Food Mart on N.C. 62 West.

Tonight’s Cash 5 jackpot is $275,000. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 575,757.

Ticket sales made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars for the state last year. North Carolina Education Lottery net proceeds were used to help pay salaries of teachers and teacher assistants, for pre-kindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, school construction and repair, and need-based college scholarships and financial aid.
