RALEIGH – What does a good day look like? For Barry Seawell, it meant buying a $5 lottery ticket, scratching off a $100,000 prize and collecting his winnings – all in the same day.

The Raleigh man stopped Friday at the Bull Market on Glenwood Avenue. There, Seawell got two Mega Bucks tickets – but didn’t find out he was a big winner until he got home.

“I didn’t win anything on the first ticket,” Seawell recalled. “On the second one I thought I won my money back. But then saw the ‘1’ and all the zeroes, and I started running around the room.”

Seawell said his $69,251 in after-tax winnings would allow him to pay bills, take a trip to Atlantic City and go on a fishing trip to Florida.

Ticket sales made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars for the state last year. For details on how $275 million in lottery funds have made a difference in Wake County, click on the “Where the Money Goes” tab on the lottery’s website.
