RALEIGH – Nashville resident James Battle is the latest player to claim a big prize playing Carolina Cash 5. He matched all five numbers in the Sept. 18 drawing to win the $353,882 jackpot.
Battle purchased his lucky ticket, worth $245,065 after required state and federal withholdings, at the Bradberry Grocery on Taylor Store Road in Nashville.
Tonight’s Cash 5 jackpot is $212,000. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 575,757.
Ticket sales made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars for the state last year. North Carolina Education Lottery net proceeds were used to help pay salaries of teachers and teacher assistants, for pre-kindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, school construction and repair, and need-based college scholarships and financial aid.
