RALEIGH – Greensboro resident Charles McCall is the latest player to win big playing Carolina Cash 5. His ticket matched all five numbers in the Sept. 5 drawing to win half of that night’s $233,330 jackpot.

McCall purchased his lucky $1 ticket from SN Food Mart on N.C. 62 West in Greensboro. After state and federal taxes were withheld, he received a check for $80,790.

The second winning ticket from the drawing was also sold in Greensboro at the Food Lion on Coliseum Boulevard. Winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize. Tonight’s Cash 5 jackpot is $77,000.

Ticket sales made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars for the state last year. North Carolina Education Lottery net proceeds were used to help pay salaries of teachers and teacher assistants, for pre-kindergarten programs for at-risk four-year-olds, school construction and repair, and need-based college scholarships and financial aid.
