A group of longtime friends has a reason to celebrate after winning a $150,000 in Saturday’s Powerball drawing.

Members of the group claimed their prize at lottery headquarters in Raleigh Friday morning. They will split the full prize, After required state and federal tax withholdings they’ll share $103,875.
The group purchased the winning $3 Power Play ticket at the Food lion on Monroe Road in Charlotte. To win $150,000 they matched four of the five white balls and the red Powerball. The prize tripled from $50,000 to $150,000 when the 3x multiplier was drawn for Power Play tickets.
Ticket sales from games like Powerball made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars for the state last year.
