RALEIGH – Dale Bartlett of Sophia says he and his wife, Christy, plan to be smart with the $112,029 Cash 5 jackpot he won Sunday night.

“The biggest chunk will go to pay the house off,” Dale said.

“And go somewhere warm ASAP,” Christy added.

The couple said their after-tax winnings of $77,580 would also allow them to buy new four-wheelers for their sons, ages 10 and 15.

Bartlett, a service manager, purchased the winning ticket at the Midway Mart on U.S. 311 in Sophia.

Ticket sales from games like Cash 5 made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars for the state last year.
