Lindell Clark of Burgaw was one of two Cash 5 players who beat the odds of 1 in 575,757 in Tuesday’s drawing to split a $470,762 jackpot.

Clark claimed his half of the jackpot, $235,381, on Thursday. After required state and federal tax withholdings he received $163,001. He bought the lucky ticket at the Piggly Wiggly on Norwood Street in Wallace.

The other half of the jackpot went to Victor Mendez of Lexington. Mendez bought his ticket at the Grab & Go on South Main Street in Lexington in Davidson County.

Ticket sales from games like Cash 5 made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars for the state last year.
