Winning the $100,000 top Mega Bucks prize means a dream trip to Puerto Rico for Jamarra McCullum of Fayetteville.

McCullum’s luck occurred when she went with her best friend to the Quick Check on East 5th Street in Lumberton and bought the $5 winning ticket.

Her friend’s hand started itching, and she told McCullum it meant she had a lucky ticket. McCullum didn’t believe her, but then started scratching the ticket.

“When I got to the second row and saw the prize, I started screaming, ‘Oh my God, Oh my God,’” McCullum said. “It’s crazy, it feels like a dream!”

McCullum claimed her prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. After required state and federal withholdings she took home $69,251.

Ticket sales from games like Mega Bucks made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars for the state last year.
