David Doub from Claremont is the first player to win a $1 million prize in the new Millionaire Bucks game.

Doub claimed the prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. He had the choice of taking a $1 million annuity that has 20 payments of $50,000 a year or a lump sum of $600,000. Doub chose the lump sum, and after federal and state tax withholdings received $415,506.

He bought the $20 ticket at the Speedy Mart on Fairgrove Church Road in Conover
Millionaire Bucks launched in January with three top prizes of $4 million and five prizes of $1 million.

Ticket sales from games like Millionaire Bucks made it possible for the lottery to raise more than half a billion dollars for the state last year.
