What would you do with an extra $1,000 a day for the rest of your life? North Carolinians have their first chance to find out in Monday’s Lucky for Life drawing.

While the main attraction of the multistate games Powerball and Mega Millions are jackpots that can grow larger and larger, what makes Lucky for Life distinct is its fixed top prize of $1,000 a day, every day, for the rest of a winner’s life.

When tickets went on sale Sunday, North Carolina became the 20th state to join the game. Drawings are held Mondays and Thursdays at approximately 10:38 p.m. Players have until 9:30 p.m. on draw days to get a ticket for $2 per play.

More facts on the game:
